Three patent families formed

ResQ Biotech has formed three patent families covering its CycloFINDER™ discovery platform, lead programs in Alzheimer's disease and ALS, and core CycloFOLDER™ compositions. The portfolio includes granted patents for both composition-of-matter and method-of-use protection.

An integrated bacterial system for the discovery of chemical rescuers of disease-associated protein misfolding.

The foundational work behind the CycloFINDER™ platform. It established a living-cell system in which large libraries of macrocyclic peptides are biosynthesized and screened in living cells for the ability to rescue pathogenic protein misfolding, producing the first set of CycloFOLDER™ molecules — head-to-tail cyclic peptides that inhibit amyloid-β aggregation (validated in primary neurons and Alzheimer's disease models) and the aggregation of mutant Cu/Zn SOD1 linked to ALS.

Science Advances (2019) — Delivoria et al.

Bacterial production and direct functional screening of expanded molecular libraries for discovering inhibitors of protein aggregation.

An expansion of the CycloFINDER™ platform's molecular diversity, applied at scale. A combinatorial library of roughly 200 million drug-like macrocyclic peptides was biosynthesized and functionally screened in living cells — among the largest functional screens of small molecular entities reported — yielding a second set of CycloFOLDER™ molecules: more than 400 macrocycles that reduce amyloid-β aggregation and toxicity in vitro and in vivo.

ACS Synthetic Biology (2025) — Delivoria et al.

Optimization of a high-throughput screen for monitoring disease-associated protein misfolding and aggregation in bacteria.

The most recent refinement of the screen at the platform's core. The genetic high-throughput assay — which reads out the misfolding and aggregation of disease-related human proteins fused to a fluorescent reporter in living cells — was systematically tuned to maximize sensitivity and dynamic range, using cancer-associated variants of human p53 as a model.

Highlighted by Nature's Spinoff Prize (2020)

ResQ Biotech was named one to watch among 44 science-based spin-offs selected for the inaugural Spinoff Prize, organized by Nature Research and Merck KGaA to recognize the most exciting companies to emerge from academic labs in the prior three years. Nominees were judged on the quality and originality of the underlying science, the market opportunity, the significance of the problem addressed, the business plan, and the strength of the leadership team.
